The Desert Foxes of Algeria posted an emphatic 3-0 victory over the Syli National of Guinea on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at the 30 June Stadium to book a place in the quarter-finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Algeria attacker Youcef Belaili combined beautifully with Baghdad Bounedjah on the 24th minute to find himself one on one with goalkeeper Ibrahim Kone before coolly curling his effort into the right bottom corner.

That goal separated the two sides at the end of the first-half following Guinea’s failure to really make any inroads in the final third of their opponent.

The Desert Foxes showed intent and decided to take the game to their opponent in the second half in search of a second goal to give them insurance right from the start of the tournament. That equalizer came on the 57th minute courtesy a sumptuous strike from Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez.

With just 7 minutes to end proceedings, substitute Adam Ounas found himself unmarked in the 18-yard box and connected to a low cross to give Algeria a three-goal cushion.
