Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil delivered a standout performance to lead LA Galaxy to a thrilling victory over Guadalajara in the Leagues Cup on Monday dawn.

The 26-year-old made an immediate impact when the Major League Soccer side faced off against the Mexican club.

The Black Stars forward found the back of the net, contributing significantly to his team's success, which was ultimately secured through a penalty shootout.

The match saw Guadalajara take an early lead, scoring just eight minutes into the game. However, LA Galaxy responded swiftly with Paintsil leveling the score in the 11th minute.

Both teams went into the halftime break with the score tied at 1-1. After the restart, Gabriel Pec put LA Galaxy ahead in the 67th minute, giving the American side a temporary lead.

In a dramatic turn, Guadalajara managed to equalize late in regular time, forcing the match into additional minutes. Cade Cowell came through with a crucial equalizer just one minute into stoppage time, pushing the game to a penalty shootout.
