Vincenzo Montella Claims AC Milan Deserved Their Win Against Chievo Due to Second Half Performance

AC Milan beat Chievo 3-1 on Saturday in Serie A with two goals in the last 20 minutes of the game, putting them in 6th place and chasing down the European places. CoachVincenzo Montella admitted that they were much better in the second half and they deserved the win.


AC Milan scored in the 70th and 82nd minute to secure the victory and go ahead of their rivals Inter Milan in the league.

Speaking to theofficial AC Milan websiteabout their second half performance,Vincenzo Montella said:"We could have done more in the first half, but it's not because of our midfielders.


"In the second 45 minutes, we played better, creating more chances and deserving to win.


''The two strikers? I thought we could play with two strikers because I believed in Bertolacci and Sosa's qualities in midfield."

The Reds and Blacks coach also spoke about how dangerous they were from set pieces in Saturday's match compared to usual:


"Today we were more dangerous than usual from set pieces and we did it against the strongest team in the league from this point of view.


"We missed many chances, but I am satisfied with the boys' performance."

Carlos Bacca scored two of AC Milan's goals andMontella was full of praise for theColombianforward and for his contribution in the match:"I have a great staff who work a lot on details with the boys. Bacca played a brilliant game, scoring two goals.


"He's a player of International level. I said it also yesterday: from now until the end of the season we are going to see the real Carlos."

TheRossoneri are closing down on the European places and look like they are going to take it down right until the end of the season. The AC Milan coach told the club website what his aims are for the season:


"We are doing really well, with great consistency. Our goal is to make it into Europe and we're working to make it happen."
