Nigeria and Côte d'Ivoire secured qualification to the Total U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2021, after reaching the WAFU “B” qualifying tournament final, beating Burkina Faso and Niger 1-0 respectively.
Nigeria needed a 77th minute goal to defeat Burkina Faso in a close encounter. Michael Papo Emmanuel scored to see the Golden Eaglets reaching the final and consequently the U-17 AFCON.
In the second semi-final, Côte d'Ivoire dominated the game from start to the end, but only scored one goal through Seydou Traoré two minutes after the break to defeat Niger 1-0. Côte d'Ivoire Coach Lassina Dao introduced Traoré at the break, and it paid well for the Junior Elephants.
Nigeria faces Côte d'Ivoire in the WAFU “B” final on Monday, with both sides already guaranteeing their tickets to Morocco next March.
