WAFU-B U20: Ghana's Ambassador to Niger Magnusen visits Black Satellites ahead of Nigeria tie

Ghana’s ambassador to the Republic of Niger Mr. Jonathan R. Magnusen has visited the Black Satellites ahead of the crucial WAFU-B U20 Championship against Nigeria on Sunday.

Ambassador Magnusen and some staff of the embassy were at the training grounds during the final training session at the Stade Municipal in Niamey.

Speaking at the end of the session, Ambassador Magnusen pledged the embassy’s support to the team throughout the competition.

“You are not alone in this, we are here to fully support you and to make sure that you go back home with the ultimate”.

“Rest assured that for the period of the tournament whatever we can do to help you we are ready to do it. Not only for ourselves, but for our team and for mother Ghana”, the Ambassador said during an interaction with the players and the technical team.

He further called on the players to make the nation proud and defend the nation’s enviable record especially when it comes to matches against Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of the players, Goalkeeper Gregory Sekyere expressed gratitude to the ambassador for his support to the team and words of motivation.

“We assure you that whatever the nation is expecting from us, we will deliver”, he stressed.

Ghana will open their WAFU-20 Championship against Nigeria on Sunday before taking on Burkina Faso in the final group B game on May 14.
