The Ghana U-20 team has been crowned champions of the 2020 WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations tournament after defeating the Burkina Faso U-20 team 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Nicknamed the Black Satellites, the team earlier this week beat Niger in the semi-finals to book qualification to the finals of the tournament.

Honouring the final today in a clash against tournament favourites Burkina Faso, Ghana put up a resilient performance to come from behind to emerge victorious.

In a game played at the Stade de Gaules in Benin, Kouame Jean Fiacre Botue scored after just 15 minutes to give Burkina Faso the lead.

Now trailing, the Ghana team improved their game and pushed to draw level before the break with Daniel Afriyie Barnie getting on the scoresheet.

After recess, a tough encounter ensued between the two teams with the Black Satellites having the last laugh.

It was all thanks to the team’s poster boy Percious Boah who scored from a free-kick in the 79th minute to seal a 2-1 win against Burkina Faso in the final.

In addition to being crowned the champions of the 2020 WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations tournament, Ghana has also qualified for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations U-20 tournament.
