WAFU U-20 Tournament: Black Satellites shot-stopper Danlad Ibrahim eyes title

Black Satellites goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim has set sights on winning the WAFU Zone B U-20 championship for the country.

The Satellites on Tuesday beat Niger 5-3 on penalties to reach the finals of the WAFU Zone B Cup of Nations in Benin.

The win also qualified Ghana for the 2021 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Mauritania. Ghana, three-time African champions will be making a record 11th appearance at the competition slated for Mauritania in 2021.

However, speaking in an interview with Wontumi TV, Danlad says the team has shifted their attention to winning the tournament.

"Initially the very big task was to secure qualification to Mauritania and that has been attained," the Asante Kotoko goalie said.

"Now the next step is to fight hard and win the trophy for Ghana and the president [H. E.] Nana Addo. We recently had peaceful elections so we believe if we win the trophy and bring it home, it will add to the joy and peace already in the country.

"So the jubilation we had yesterday is now in the past but we have started to engage each other to work hard to bring the trophy to Ghana.

"Ghana is hungry for trophies so we want to deliver this one to Ghanaians," he added.

Ghana will play Burkina Faso in the final this weekend.
