The Ghana U-17 team has been eliminated from the WAFU Zone B U-17 Cup of Nations tournament after losing 3-1 to the Cote d’Ivoire U-17 team on Tuesday afternoon.

Nicknamed the Black Starlets, the team played their first match of the tournament last weekend against their counterpart from Nigeria.

In what ensued as a fierce battle between the rival countries, both teams shared the spoils on the back of a 1-1 draw.

Taking on Group B leaders Cote d’Ivoire today, the Ghana team had to avoid a defeat to progress to the knockout stage of the competition.

Not having the best day coupled with some penalty shouts that were waved off by the match officials, the Black Starlets has ended up losing 3-1 to the young Elephants at the end of the 90 minutes.

As a result, the team has been booted out of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Cup of Nations tournament with Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire moving on to the semis.
