Watford Boss Walter Mazzari Insists Problems Off the Pitch Are Not Distracting After Last-Gasp Win

Watford manager Walter Mazzari has insisted that his side are not being distracted by off the field allegations following the club's last-gasp 1-0 win over Premier League strugglers Hull City.

The Hornets are currently under investigation and could receive and EFL club sanction following a report from the Daily Telegraph suggesting the London side used forged banking letters during their takeover in 2014.

According to theBelfast Telegraph, if proven guilty, Watford could be deducted points in the Premier League or face a hefty fine, however Mazzari insists that despite a scrappy win which saw the Tigers score an own goal in the last few minutes to hand Watford the win, these allegations are not affecting his own players.

"Believe me when I tell you that you that inside the club we are very calm," said Mazzari.

"When we prepared for this game we didn't even think about what was in the newspaper, my job and the players' job is to work on the pitch, that is what we do, not even one player has asked me about it."

Mazzari also commented that his team's display in the first 30 minutes was the way he wants his side to play every week, but admits they need to be more wary of the counter attack as the game develops.

"We did a great 30 minutes when we played beautiful and the way I want my team to play every game," the Italian coachadded.

"We were very unlucky not to score one or two goals at the beginning, when we didn't score the team could not hold the same performance or energy for 90 minutes.

"I always believed it even though in the second half they had a couple of counter-attacks and we risked that they could have scored."
