Our top six ambition still focus despite Eleven Wonders stalemate - Ebusua Dwarfs coach Ernest Thompson

Ebusua Dwarfs head coach, Ernest Thompson says the aim for a top-six finish remains on course despite sharing spoils with Techiman Eleven Wonders on Friday.

Michael Asamoah gave Dwarfs a glimmer of hope when he smashed home the opener with just 13 minutes played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Dwarfs failed to hold on to their guns with the visitors replying quickly just after the opener.

Clement Boahene swept home the equalizer for Eleven Wonders with 15 minutes into the game.

Despite the draw, Thompson said their ambition of fighting for the top six has not changed.

“Right from the commencement of the league, I think we set a target of at least being in the top six.

“We still stick by that and that is what I said earlier.

“That is why we roped in these guys [new players] to come and help achieve the target.

“We have not actually altered our target, we are actually maintaining the target and by the close of the league we should in the top six.

“Currently we are lying 9th on the league log which is not a bad position.

“We could have done better, still there is more room for improvement.

“We know second round is going to be very tough and we will go back to the drawing board to correct everything that went wrong in the first round.

“We signed these players with the sole aim of beefing up the team in positions we realized we had challenges at a point in time.

“So it is a very strategic signings.

“Doing strategic signings does not mean the players can just come and walk into the team.

“It means that they have to come and work hard as well.

“As much as it is a strategic signing, you don’t just walk into a team.

“You still have to fight for your position and make sure that you make a name for yourself as well.

“Yes the signings are very strategic but they don’t just walk into the team.

“It will be based on their performance as well.” Ernest Thompson said.

The draw leave Dwarfs in 9th with 24 points from 19 matches and will be playing as guest to Berekum Chelsea in the matchday 20 games at the Berekum Golden City Park.
