We are not in the right frame to start league - Kotoko skipper Annan

Asante Kotoko skipper Felix Annan believes the clubs are not in the right frame to re-start the 2019/20 league season.

All football leagues have been halted since mid-March due to coronavirus as part of measures to help curb the spread of the disease.

The President of Ghana, Nana Akuffo Addo recently extended the ban on sporting activities to July 31, however, the FA has set June 30 as the date they decide the future of the league.

According to Annan, it will be very difficult for the season to resume because clubs will need almost to prepare.

"Frankly speaking, as at now and per what the president said that all contact sports activities are suspended until at least July 31st, it will be difficult for us to continue the season," Annan told Power FM.

"Even if authorities are able to place measures so that the restriction will be lifted on July 31st, clubs will need like 1 month or 6 weeks to prepare.

"So we are entering into August-September, so when are we going to finish all these 16 remaining games so we start the next season.

"In my estimation, I think we are not in the right frame to start the league now," he concluded.

The GFA proposed weekly testing of all players and also training in smaller groups but did not meet the expectation of the government.

The 2019/20 Premier League was at its match week 15 stage when it was halted with Aduana Stars leading the table with 28 points.
