Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Obuasi Ashanti Gold, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong has disclosed that his team defeated regional rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko to show them that they are not invincible at home.
Prior to the meeting of the two clubs on Sunday in the BK Adusei Foundation Cup, the Porcupine Warriors had maintained a good record at home ensuring that they avoided defeat in front of their fans at home.
Following a goalless draw, however, the Miners proved superior and triumphed over the Reds to lift the maiden edition of the BK Adusei Foundation Cup.
Speaking to the media after the match, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong indicated that they planned to tame Kotoko at home to show them that they are beatable.
“There has been something going on here in Ghana. Kotoko looked like they were unbeatable here in Kumasi and that is why we intentionally made up our mind to come here reiterated that the secret to their success is because they have the best of everything in the country.
“Good team, good coach, and technical bench. That’s the whole secret and prayer. That’s why we always say it is only Jesus who can make you a champion.
“We have a very good team, a good coach, and a good technical bench and that’s what makes it special”, he said.
