We have to meet the expectations of our fans back home- Black Starlets Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin

Coach of the Black Starlets of Ghana, Paa Kwesi Fabin claims the team must meet the expectations of Ghanaians back home, who have thrown their support behind the team.

Ghana will play Niger on Wednesday in the round of 16 after topping group A. Meanwhile, Niger reached this stage after finishing as one of the best placed third teams.

Ghanaians have generally not been so impressed by the performance of the boys with others critiquing Coach Fabin for their shaky performances.

However, Paa Kwesi Fabin who understands the pressure of leading a Ghanaian team indicated the fans want nothing but to see the team win the tournament.

"We have to meet the expectations of our fans back home. One funny thing about our country is that any tournament we enter the fans expect us to win regardless of the kind of opposition we meet, they think we are the best team and that any team we meet we have to beat them," says Fabin.

"It's a very huge expectation but we're managing it and trying to do our best here."

The Black Starlets are two times winners of the FIFA under-17 world Cup but have missed the last decade of the competition following their inability to qualify.

However, Coach Fabin and his charges are bent on winning the FIFA U-17 world Cup for the third time for Ghana.
