Gilbert Fiamenyo, former Accra Hearts of Oak attacker, has confirmed the argument that Ghanaian footballers leave the Ghana Premier League because of low salaries.

Lack of proper player welfare structures and poor management is reducing the quality of the league.

According to Fiamenyo, the Ghanaian teams pay low salaries to players that they cannot even care for themselves and their families.

 Gilbert Fiamenyo told local radio station Agyenkwa FM that

“We leave the Ghana premier league because they pay low salaries as compared to clubs in abroad where we can get money to cater for ourselves and the family,” he said.
