Accra Hearts of Oak forward Cosmos Dauda has revealed how the team is eager to end the club’s Ghana Premier league trophy drought.
The Phobians last won the Ghana Premier League in 2009 and have since struggled to get their hands on the trophy.
Last season the Accra based club nearly clinched the title but they were beaten to it by Wa All Stars leaving them third at the end of the season.
The striker who is beginning to find the form that endeared him to the fans of the club last season insists they have to win more games in the second round to stand a chance of winning the title.
“If you want to be champions you keep winning games. Everybody wants to be champion but it depends on your character and determination,” he told Metro TV.
“We have a coach, who talks to us positievely, and we are working with him gradually, and we are taking every game at a time.
“We believe if we keep on winning like that and not losing games we can be on top andwecan be champions,”he added.
Cosmos Dauda shared the disappointment of coming close to the title last year but not winning it. However he added this season they will end the club’s Ghana Premier League drought.
“We came close last season, I think we lost the title by three points and to every player it was a really huge disappointment. We don’t want to experience that this season,”
“We believe this season could be a season where we can turn the fortune around for this club because when you go trophyless every year you lose your worth and Accra Hearts of Oak is a big club,
“I believe if we put in more work and more effort and more determination. I believe we can come out on top and end the trophy drought.”
Accra Hearts of Oak will host Liberty Professional on Sunday for the commencement of the second round of the Ghana Premier League.
