The Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has revealed that they were forced to sack Seydou Zerbo.

The Burkinabe forward was named as the head coach of the club, replacing Prosper Nartey Ogum on a two-year deal.

However, after a poor start, Zerbo was sacked after losing 2-0 to Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Revealing what influenced the decision to sack the trainer, Nana Yaw Amponsah disclosed that the management were satisfied with the performance of Zerbo but the fans wanted him out.

He further added that some fans planned to attack him and to prevent that, Zerbo's contract had to be terminated.

"We as management wanted Seydou Zerbo to stay as the head coach of the club but we picked an intel that he will be attacked by the fans and we did not want that to happen because this has happened in the club before.

"When we engaged him, he also confirmed that the Burkina Faso Embassy here in Ghana have also informed him that this is the information they received.

"Even before we sacked him, we still had the chance to win the Premier League title and if you bring in a new coach, we were not sure if he would make that impact we want but we had no option but to sack him because, at a point, there is a fact that the CEO must be sacrificed or the coach," he added.

Kotoko named Abdul Gazale as the interim coach until the end of the season following the dismissal of Seydou Zerbo.
