Technical director of the Ghana Football Association, Francis Oti Akenteng insists they are working on improving the Black Starlets team ahead of the FIFA U-17 world Cup in India later this year.

The national under-17 team qualified for the World Cup after placing second on the continent having showed promising performances in the first two games of their group-beating Cameroon 4-0 and Gabon 5-0.

However, their performance declined as the tournament progressed. They drew against Guinea and had to beat Niger on penalties to make it into the finals eventually losing to Mali.

Meanwhile, technical director at the Football Association Mr.Oti Akenteng insists they are working on correcting all anomalies at the Africa Junior Championships.

“We saw how they started very well, you know for Ghanaians it’s the opposite way. Normally it is the other way where we don’t start well but end well. But at the AJC we started well but it didn’t end the way wanted it,” he told Citi FM.

“Probably, we have to start well and end well and that is what we are trying to do. Evaluation has already been done.”

“The team is in camp, they have started doing their corrections though we haven’t started at management level but we will do that. Like I said I know the coach personal and he is doing that.”

“So I believe the right thing is being done though officially we haven’t come out but be rest assured that whatever the mistakes are, definitely we will correct them.”

The Black Starlets have been drawn in group A of the FIFA U-17 world cup together with host, India, South Americans Colombia and juvenile football powerhouse the United States of America.

Ghana, two times champions are returning to the world stage after a decade of absence.
