I am doing well - Bayern star Jerome Boateng

Whilst the FC Bayern team were in London for their Champions League last-16 second leg to rout Arsenal 1-5. Philipp Lahm (suspended) and Jerome Boateng had the whole of Allianz Arena to themselves.

The pair both took part in individual training on Tuesday. After that, Boateng spoke to FC Bayern.tv live about his rehabilitation work following surgery on his right pectoral muscle shortly before Christmas.

“Of course it’s not nice to be out injured for so long,” said Germany’s Footballer of the Year.

He has been watching his side’s success in recent weeks with a smile on his face and tears in his eyes. “It’s always great when things go well, but of course I’d like to be out on the pitch helping.”

Boateng’s period of suffering now appears to be coming towards an end. He was given the all clear to train again with physical contact on Friday, and Carlo Ancelotti has stated that the centre-back could be an option for the home game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. “I’m doing well, and now I’m hoping to be part of the squad for the next match,” said Boateng.
