Having joined from Blackpool in 2008, 34-year-old Hoolahan is currently Norwich's longest serving player and has seen the club rise from the depths of League One to the Premier League.

His existing deal had been due to expire at the end of the forthcoming season.

"Wes has always been a special player for us," Norwich boss Alex Neil told Canaries.co.uk.

"More often than not, he's the one I turn to when I need someone to deliver something for me, and he never really lets me down," the Scot added.

"He's a quality player. We all know his qualities. He'll be key for us this year."

Hoolahan has played close to 300 games in a Norwich shirt over the last eight years. He has experienced three promotions already and will be crucial once more if the club's current stay in the Championship is to be a brief one.

The player recently starred for the Republic of Ireland at Euro 2016 as the team from the Emerald Isle reached the last 16 where they were beaten by hosts France.
