West Bromwich Albion and Watford have both been handed charges by the FA for failing to control their players during the sides' clash on Saturday.

Hornets midfielderRoberto Pereyra was sent off after reacting angrily to a challenge from James McClean. That, in turn, sparked a huge melee near the touchline, with players from both teams clashing.

The FA have since released a statement via theirofficial website, which reads: "Both West Bromwich Albion and Watford have been charged for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour.

"It follows an incident in the 84th minute of the game on Saturday 3 December 2016.Both clubs have until 6pm on 8 December 2016 to respond to the charge."

Watford head coach Walter Mazzarri was of the view that his player was unfairly dismissed.

"Pereyra was fouled," he remarked after the match. "He was on the floor and his rival kept fouling him. He stood up and gave a small push and that's when I went to separate them."

Tony Pulis, the Baggies' manager, said that McClean is one of those players whom "trouble seems to follow around."

West Brom, however, came out on top with a 3-1 win on the day, as goals from Jonny Evans, Chris Brunt and Matt Phillips sealed the deal, withChristian Kabasele scoring the Hornets' solitary strike.
