Bazan Vera has previously been linked with moves toArsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea, but now it appears that theHammers have become front-runners for the talented youngster.

Spanish club Villarreal are also reportedly keen, especially due to the fact that he owns a European passport and wouldn't need to apply for a work permit.

Scouts have also reported that due to the physical aspect of his game he will adapt well to Premier League football.

West Ham are in desperate need in firepower up front as none of their current strikers has bagged a single goal since the start of the season.

Summer signing Simone Zaza has largely failed to impress this season, leaving many fans requesting the owners to act in January to remedy the striker-crisis.

And due to his age,Bazan Vera -who is the nephew of prolific strikerDaniel Bazan Vera -will be relatively inexpensive for thebidding clubs.

Slaven Bilic's side were handed a further blow earlier this month when reports emerged that Andy Carroll suffered a further injury setback, pushing his return date back to mid-November.
