West Ham fans clamour for Andre Ayew to start against Daniel Amartey's Leicester City

Andre Ayew has two goals and an assist in his past three games and West Ham fans are absolutely clamouring for him to start against Leicester City this weekend.

The £20.1m club-record signing from Swansea has endured a frustrating start to life in east London.

He was injured on his debut at Chelsea in West Ham’s opening day defeat and ruled out for three months, returning just before Christmas and then scoring away at his former side on Boxing Day to open his account for his new side.

Ayew has had to play second fiddle to Sofiane Feghouli since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana but is certainly pushing the Algerian hard for his starting spot.

He bagged the equaliser at Watford, got an assist for Manuel Lanzini’s late consolation against Chelsea then scored another equaliser to make it 2-2 on Saturday at Bournemouth, all three times coming off the bench to make an impact.

Also on Saturday, the Ghanaian had the highest pass success rate of any West Ham player (92%) despite only playing 32 minutes – having replaced Feghouli - and had the third most shots on goal with two, one of them finding the net.

The up and down form of Feghouli is a big source of frustration for Hammers fans and now they have made their mind up – Ayew needs to start and that should begin with the visit of the Premier League champions to the London Stadium.

With the Hammers having not won in four games – nearly a month – fans are desperate for a change in the attacking department and Ayew has already proved he could be the answer. Slaven Bilic has stuck by Feghouli but Ayew’s form may force him to change his mind.
