West Ham Reportedly Showing Interest in Permanent Signing of Arsenal Defender Carl Jenkinson

West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson on a permanent deal, according to theDaily Star.

The 24-year-old spent two seasons on loan at the Hammers, making a total 52 Premier League appearances in the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons.

The East London club opted out of making the move permanent at the end of last season due to an injury Jenkinson picked up, but reports suggest they are now keen on signing him on a permanent basis to address their current problems in the right-back spot.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has had to rely on Michail Antonio to fill the right-back berth for much of the season, with Sam Byram not yet up to full match fitness.

Alvaro Arbeloa was brought in during the summer to add depth, but has played on the left in some of the Hammers' matches to contend with the increasing defensive injury crisis.

Jenkinson has been highlighted as a possible solution and reports suggest West Ham are quietly optimistic of securing his signature, with the Englishman struggling to dislodge Hector Bellerin from the starting eleven.

The 24-year-old lined up for Arsenal in Tuesday's 3-2 against Ludogorets in the Champions League, which was his first start for the Gunners in the Champions League since 2013.

It followed his first competitiveappearance for Arsenal this season last week against Reading in the 2-1 EFL Cup win.

Arsenal, who qualified for last 16 with their win against Ludogorets, face north London rivals Tottenham at the Emirates this Sunday in the hotly-anticipated Premier League clash.
