Newcastle United want to buy a full-back and another striker in the summer transfer window as Rafa Benitez looks to enhance the squad.
Despite bringing in Jesus Gamez and Dwight Gayle, those two positions could still do with strengthening and adding strength in depth - or so Benitez believes.
But one of those areas is more important than the other, especially after splashing £10m to sign the former Crystal Palace forward, who is an excellent finisher and who is a player who can flourish under the Spanish manager and in the Championship.
The area in which the squad is most weak right now is in the full-back position, particularly at left-back, where the only incumbents are the injury plagued but steady enough Paul Dummett andMassadio Haïdara.
Both these areundoubtedlygood enough to hold down their own in the British second tier, although their record means that a third left-back is required - especially as Dummett can fill in at centre-back, and could find himself there at some point this season as the Magpies only have three senior players in that position.
Haïdara's injury record is especially worrying, and if he continues along that pattern there is every chance that Dummett will be the only senior player who can naturally play in that position. Since 2013 the French defender has missed a massive 63 games, but more worryingly five out of his seven absences from the first team have been for a knee injury.
On the other hand, United seem to be well stocked up front, with Gayle, Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic all fighting for the right to play up front for Newcastle - and even if Benitez can work two of them into the formation there will always be strong competition for places, especially if Adam Armstrong stays on Tyneside and those four stay injury free.
And that is why it would be best for the Magpies to sign another left-back, preferably a younger player with potential. Rico Henry from Walsall has been rumoured, and he would be a good start - especially following his excellent season in League One.
Leeds United's Charlie Taylor could be another option, and the 22-year-old already has played 69 games in the Championship, including 39 last season - with seven assists.
United should target where they are weakest first, and it all indicates that left-back is an area that needs to be strengthened before Benitez looks at the attack again.
