Black Stars B Captain Isaac Twum has revealed winning the West Africa Football Union Champions and being adjudged the best player of the tournament is the moment in his life.
The Inter Allies midfielder was one of the stars of the tournament and emerged the best player of the competition after some phenomenal performances in the middle of the park.
The former under-20 player led the team to triumph, following a 4-1 win over the super Eagles of Nigeria. His amazing displays saw him win Man of the The Match awards in the opening game against Gambia.
However, his absence in the game against Nigeria significant as Ghana lost to the Super Eagles in the group stages after he had an early bath because of injury.
But, Twum shaked off the knock and was impressive in the semifinal against Niger and produced a much better performance in the finals against Nigeria.
“It means a lot to win this tournament,” said Twum.
“It also helps us as players to develop and to make our names in football. This tournament has benefited us all, the players and the nation.
“Winning this individual award is probably the best thing that has happened in my life so far. I am happy and excited for the future.
“I also want to say thank you to my teammates and congratulate them because if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have won this award. I couldn’t have done it alone.”
The 21 year-old’s performance has earned him a place in the Black Stars proper after he was named in Coach Kwesi Appiah’s 26 man squad for the Uganda game.
