Wolves suffer Jonny setback

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo looks set to be without the services of Spain international defender Jonny until after the festive period.

The 24-year-old former Celta Vigo star injured knee ligaments during his country's international friendly victory against Bosnia on Sunday and looks set to be sidelined for six weeks.

Jonny has been an ever-present for Wolves in the Premier League this season but picked up the injury in the second half of Spain's 1-0 win in Las Palmas and reportedly left the stadium on crutches.

"The player underwent an initial exploration in the dressing room and felt pain compatible with an injury to the collateral medial ligament, which, although pending confirmation, could be a grade two or three injury," said a medical report published on the Spanish football federation's website.

"He will undergo an X-ray to confirm the diagnosis and rule out other injuries, and his club will be informed of all developments."

Meanwhile, Ryan Bennett believes Wolves would be even higher in the Premier League table if they had been able to take more of the chances they have created in the first 12 games of the campaign.

Wolves are 11th in the table and 1/3 to finish in the top half this season.

Central defender Bennett said: "With the games that we've had, the chances that we've had, we could have more points.

"But the most important thing is that we're playing well, we're having a right go, the lads are working as hard as we can and if we can continue that we're going to be doing very well come the end of the season."

Wolves can be backed at 4/9 win their next top-flight game against Huddersfield Town at Molineux on Sunday.
