Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has hailed the tactical prowess of Black Stars coach Otto Addo after earning an all-important win over South Korea in the World Cup.

The West African powerhouse earned an important 3-2 win over South Korea to boost their chances of progressing to the round of 16.

The Black Stars must avoid defeat to secure qualification to the knockout phase at the mundial.

Ghana took a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu and Ajax's Mohammed Kudus.

However, Ghana fans' raucous celebrations at halftime were dampened by South Korea's comeback after the break.

Cho Kyu-sung, the top scorer in his domestic league, levelled the game after 61 minutes with two stunning headers in three minutes.

But Ghana's impressive Kudus added a final twist by thumping in a third goal to break South Korea's hearts.

After the game, Gyan, who is the all-time top-scorer for Ghana lauded the Germany-based trainer for his tactical prowess that led the Black Stars to victory over the Koreans.

“It was a great victory for us, I’m more relaxed now although I was more nervous, anytime Ghana is playing I get nervous but kudos to the boys, they defended so well, they started well, and we played well”

“I think we deserve the win although we were defending a bit deeper in the later stages of the game but the guys defended so well, tactically, the coach got it right, he knew we have to defend and brought defenders in. I think all the substitution was on point, Kudos to coach Addo and the boys” he said on SuperSports.
