World Cup 2022: Mohammed Kudus has to work more defensively - Ghana coach Otto Addo

Published on: 30 November 2022

Ghana coach Otto Addo has urged Mohammed Kudus to work more defensively in his quest to become of the best players in the world.

Kudus has been one of the standout players at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, scoring two goals and providing one assist for Ghana in two games so far.

Black Stars are currently second in Group H and will face Uruguay at the Al Janoub Stadium on Friday in the final Group H game.

"He's a very good guy who is fast one against one. He has very good game intelligence," coach Otto Addo said.

"He has to work more defensively, this is for sure, but he is on the right track to be a great, great player."

The two sides are in search of a ticket to the knockout stage with Ghana needing a win to automatically seal their spot in the next round of the tournament while the Uruguayans desperately need a win against Ghana to progress to the next round.

The game will be a repeat of the 2010 World Cup quarter-final incident which saw Luis Suarez save his side with the handball incident as Ghana eventually bowed out of the tournament on penalty shootouts.
