World Cup 2022: Morocco boss Walid Regragui eyes win over Canada in final group game

Published on: 01 December 2022

Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has set sights on beating Canada as they aim to get past the World Cup group stage for just the second time.

According to Regragui, it will be an error to play for a draw in their final group game on Thursday.

Morocco are on the verge of reaching the last 16 for the first time since 1986 after beating Belgium 2-0 in their second group game and need just a point progress.

"We are coming up against a team with nothing to lose," said Regragui ahead of the crucial game.

"They will be giving it everything right up until the final whistle.

"If we are looking for the draw, that would be a mistake. It would be an error to go into the match thinking you only need to give 20 or 30% because the draw is fine for us."

Canada are yet to win a game at the World Cup, having lost all three games on their previous appearance in 1986.
