World Cup 2022: Profile of Antoine Semenyo

Antoine Semenyo has been included in Ghana's final squad for the 2022 World Cup which will be held in Qatar.

Qatar will host the World Cup from November 20 until December 18, 2022. After the tournament in South Korea and Japan in 2002, this will be the second World Cup completely hosted in Asia and the first World Cup to ever be held in the Arab world.

Furthermore, the tournament is planned to be the last with a 32-team field; for the tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada in 2026, the field is planned to grow to 48 teams.

The Chelsea-born striker started his football career with SGS College, and Bristol City.

On the last day of the 2017–18 campaign, Semenyo made his Bristol City debut by replacing Lloyd Kelly in the second half of the team's 3-2 loss to Sheffield United at Ashton Gate. On February 9, 2019, Semenyo was called up as a replacement for Bristol City's away Championship game against Blackburn Rovers. Semenyo was given the number 18 shirt.

He scored his first goal for Bristol City on September 5, 2020, against Exeter City in an EFL Cup match.

Antoine Semenyo is 178cm tall and he prefers to play with his right foot. He can play as a center forward, left winger or a right winger.

Semenyo joined Newport County on loan on July 18, 2018, and he will remain there till the end of the current campaign. He made his Newport debut on August 4, 2018, as a second-half replacement in a 3-0 loss to Mansfield Town. He scored his first goal for Newport on August 14, 2018, in a 4-1 EFL Cup victory over Cambridge United.

He debuted with the Ghana national team in a 3–0 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification win over Madagascar on 1 June 2022. This season he has made 18 appearances, scored four goals, and assisted one in all competitions for Bristol City.
