World Cup 2022: South Korea defender Kim Min-jae absent in training ahead of Ghana clash

Published on: 27 November 2022

Top South Korean defender, Kim Min-jae could miss the clash against Ghana on Monday, November 28.

The highly-rated defender suffered a minor muscle injury in the opening Group H match against Uruguay last Thursday and is yet to fully recover.

On Friday, November 25, when South Korea had a recovery training session, Kim Min-jae was not present as players put in work to prepare for the next game against Ghana.

On Saturday when the team also trained at the Al Egla Training Center in Doha Kim Min-jae was not fully involved.

This has raised a lot of concern with Koreans concerned that he may miss the Ghana game.

For the player, he sees the muscle injury as just a minor setback and expects to be fit to help his teammates in the game against the Black Stars.

“The injury is not serious. It's the first time I've had a muscle injury, but it doesn't seem to be serious," Kim Min-jae said.

The decision is now with head coach Paulo Bento to decide whether to risk starting his top defender against Ghana or wait for him to fully recover.
