World Cup 2022: South Korea win breeds confidence - Ghana coach Otto Addo

Published on: 30 November 2022

Ghana coach Otto Addo believes his side's 3-2 win over South Korea on Monday has given his players the boost they needed at the 2022 World Cup.

Black Stars took a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Mohammed Salisu and Kudus but two stunning headers in three minutes from Cho Gue-sung levelled the game after 61 minutes.

Kudus added a final twist when he thumped in a third for Ghana to break South Korea's hearts.

"Yeah sure, it brings confidence and belief and we have to try and believe and we try if we have errors and try again, believe in our plan and stick together and work together," coach Addo told ghanafa.org.

"If one player makes a mistake the other player must be there for him. I think those matches are really building a real team."

Ghana became the third African country after Senegal and Morocco to secure a win in the second round of matches in the tournament.

Black Stars are currently second in Group H and will take on Uruguay in their final group game. A win or draw will see Ghana through to the last 16 of the competition.
