World Cup 2022: We were lucky against South Korea - Ghana coach Otto Addo

Ghana coach, Otto Addo has admitted that his side were lucky to record a late 3-2 win over South Korea.

In the round two games of the ongoing 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Black Stars recorded their first win after suffering a defeat in their opener against Portugal.

Mohammed Salisu broke the deadlock in the 24th minute before Kudus Mohammed scored in the 34th minute to double Ghana's lead.

However, two quick goals from Cho Gue-sung unsettled Ghana in the second half.

However, Kudus struck late to restore Black Stars' lead but the Koreans pressured Ghana in the last 10 minutes but Referee Anthony Taylor ended the game as Ghana secured all three points.

Speaking after the game, Otto Addo lauded his players for their determination, adding they were lucky to have won the game.

“Big congratulations to the team to come back and score a third and then the passionate defending, South Korea put on a lot of pressure … in the end, we were a bit lucky,” Ghana coach Otto Addo said.

Ghana, who now sit 2nd with three points will wrap up their group games with a much-anticipated game against Uruguay on Friday at the Al Janoub Stadium with kick-off scheduled at 15:00GMT.

The four-time African champions are aiming to make it to the last 16 after exiting at the group phase in 2014 in Brazil.
