Former Black Stars management committee Chairman, Yaw Boateng Gyan has indicated that all members of the current committee that took the team to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) must resign.
Ghana was hoping to win a 5th AFCON title at this year’s continental showpiece but disappointingly got booted out at the round of 16 stage by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
The North African side drew one all with the Black Stars at the end of 90 minutes plus extra time before finally dispatching them 5-4 on penalties to send them home packing.
Speaking on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports earlier today, Yaw Boateng Gyan stressed that all the Black Stars Management Committee Members must take a cue from the Egyptian FA and resign immediately.
“The management team must take a cue from Egypt handlers who resigned immediately after they were ousted by Bafana Bafana of South Africa”, he said.
He continued, “Right after Egypt was evicted from the competition, their Football Federation boss announced his resignation as the President on Saturday night and members of the board of directors have all resigned. They have also sacked their coach and I have even heard they are calling on their sports minister to also step down. If the team arrives in Ghana, they should do the same by resigning as soon as possible”.
Following the early exit of the tournament, Ghana is set to continue her AFCON drought for two more years.
