Yaw Preko ready for tough challenge

Interim Coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Yaw Preko has declared that the timing of his appointment is right and ready to take the team a new level in the last three games of the season.

After Kenichi Yatsuhashi was sacked as the head coach of the club, Yaw Preko was mooted as the man to replace him, but the club’s management instead appointed Portuguese trainer, Sergio Traguil Daniel.

However, since Sergio Traguil took over the team, Hearts have recorded just two wins, five draws and two defeats in his nine-match old tenure and have also lost their away invincibility after heavy losses against WAFA and Bechem United. And with the trend the club is going, the club has decided to part ways with him and has appointed Yaw Preko to steer the affairs of the club with three games to finish.

“It’s a challenge to be given such a huge job, but I’ll do my best to succeed. The first time they offered me the job, I thought the timing wasn’t right and therefore I told them to hold on but with the current predicament of the club, I’m ready and defiant to deliver with the help of everybody,” he said on Happy FM.

“We want to finish the league on a high and so I’ll urge all the supporters to rally behind the team in these last few days in the league.”

Yaw Preko will lead the Phobians from the dugout on September 11 against New Edubiase at the Accra Sports stadium.
