A former Medeama SC boss, Yaw Preko believes Hearts of Oak playmaker, Ibrahim Salifu should have earned a call up to the Black Stars.

Salifu, 23, was phenomenal for Hearts of Oak in the second half of the just ended Ghana Premier League.

He played a vital role under Samuel Boadu and ensured the Phobians won a domestic treble.

However, the former Techiman Eleven Wonder midfielder who was named Best Player for the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League had no place in CK Akonnor’s squad for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

But Preko speaking in an interview urged Salifu not to give up on playing for the Black Stars.

According to him, the midfielder has enormous qualities as a player and deserves to play for the Black Stars.

“I have watched Ibrahim Salifu and he is a good player,” Preko told Asempa FM.

“My team played against him and he was phenomenal and he proved it throughout the season and I think he should have been named in the Black Stars squad because he has the qualities to be in there.

“It did not happen anyway but he should give up on chasing his dreams of playing for the Black Stars because there are the players we want to in the national colours,” he added.

Ibrahim Salifu scored three goals and provided eight assists in 33 matches in the 2020/21 season and also won eight man of the match awards in the process.
