Benevento Calcio young midfielder Abdallah Basit has said he admires former lvory Coast and former Manchester City player Yaya Toure and wants to follow in his footsteps.
The 37-year-old midfielder had a successful and trophy-laden career with Barcelona and Manchester City during his footballing career abroad.
Speaking to outlet OttoChannel Basit said
"Who am I inspired by? Surely Yaya Toure, I would like to be like him,"
The former Napoli youth sensation had some game time against Trapani on Monday and was full of praise for coach Filippo Inzaghi over the confidence reposed in him for the game.
"I am very happy for this possibility that the coach gave me. I thank him, as well as the club and all the teammates who help me on the pitch,"
"I always try to learn from them, also because I have to improve a lot. Now we have to keep our concentration high for the next game,"
"It is very important for me to wear this shirt. Benevento is a great company but above all a family that, as I said, always helps me,"
Basit and his team-mates have to play their remaining game matches without their fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the midfielder has lamented over the unfortunate happening.
"Too bad playing without fans, for us they are very important. We must continue to work hard for them too," he said.
