Two people at a bank took the money that Emmanuel Mayuka, a former Chipolopolo attacker, was placing into his savings account.

Without Mayuka's knowledge or consent, a bank teller and an accountant colluded to take his money. The manager of the unnamed bank, Simon Kasempe, reportedly informed the 32-year-old of this questionable behaviour.

The two are being prosecuted on 15 charges of theft and theft by servant with forgeries.

The NAPSA Stars attacker subsequently stated that although he was unaware of this activity, his personal manager got in touch with him to ask about the history of transactions at his bank, and to his amazement, he discovered that the money was being withdrawn.

The two suspects, Kangwa Makumba, 51, and Evans Kabaso, 30, were identified after further investigation and were turned over to the Anticorruption Commission.

Mayuka was the top scorer in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations tournament. He played for Premier League side Southampton from 2012 to 2015.
