Zlatan Denies Deliberately Kicking Coleman in the Head: 'I Would Have Sent Him to Sleep'

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has denied deliberately kicking Everton full-back Seamus Coleman in the head after a collision between the pair during the second half of Sunday's 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.

Slow-motion video footage showed Ibrahimovic's boot connecting with Coleman and some claimed it was intentional. But the Swede, a black belt in Taekwondo, explained that there would be nothing to debate if he'd really wanted to hurt his opponent.

"I heard one of the commentators say I kicked someone in the head on purpose. It was a 50/50 duel. He pulled me down and I tried to avoid touching him," Zlatan told MUTV.

"Trust me, if I want to kick someone in the head, I know how to kick someone in the head and make him fall asleep. That is the only thing I have to say."

For United it was another two points dropped and another league game without a win.

"We controlled the game, not 100 per cent, but most of it and I think we did good until 70 minutes. Then I think we were not playing our normal game, we lost confidence and we lost the two points," Ibrahimovic, who scored his 12th goal of the season, explained.

"The positive is we don't lose the match. That's the positive. We know we need to win. You want to reach the Champions League and win [the league title], and you need to get three points to do that.

"I scored but in the end it only got me and the team one point. I would prefer not to score but win the game, that's my way of thinking."
