Carlo Ancelotti Satisfied as Bayern Munich Cruise to Impressive 5-0 Cup Win Against Carl Zeiss Jena

Bayern Munich got their season up and running with the first round of the DFB Pokalending with a 5-0 thrashing over brave fourth tier outfit Carl Zeiss Jena, five days after their super cup victory over rivals Borussia Dortmund.


This makes it two wins out of two for Bayern, seven goalsand yet to concede - the perfect start heading in to the season opener next Friday. The players told theclub's official websiteof their joyful start to life in the 2016/17 season, as well as newmanager Carlo Ancelotti.


Ancelotti said:"Our display and attitude were decent. We scored early and controlled the game well. We're very satisfied with it. I decided to award Mats a breather at the beginning, he played 90 minutes against Dortmund. Martínez did very well."

Despite Mats Hummels starting the game as a substitute, he came on in the second halfto score in his second competitive game for the club. Hummels said:"It's nice to start the season this way. Our first goal is to be in top form. We defended well after Jena switched well in the second half.


"We can't be at 100 percent now, but we're approaching the mark. Scoring goals is the most beautiful thing in football, even for defenders. It was planned that I'd start on the bench. The 90 minutes in Dortmund were too much in view of my shape, so the coach said I'd play one half maximum today."

A first half hat-trick from Robert Lewandowski saw the visitors head into the interval three goals to the good, with Arturo Vidal and Mats Hummels adding to the onslaught of the German minnows in the second half.


Bayern Munich now look to provide a similar performance in the league's curtain raiser on Friday,welcomingWerder Bremen to the Allianz Arena.
