Ghana Premier League: Asante Kotoko to face Medeama without eight key players

Published on: 26 April 2024

Asante Kotoko are preparing for a tough encounter against defending champions Medeama at Akoon Park in Tarkwa in the ongoing Ghana Premier League, but they’ll have to navigate the challenge without eight regular players.

Following a hard-fought victory over Samartex last Sunday, the Porcupine Warriors have shifted their focus to building momentum as they face Medeama this Saturday.

Medeama boasts an impressive unbeaten streak at their Tarkwa fortress in their last 10 Premier League matches, adding to the difficulty for Kotoko.

However, Kotoko’s preparations have been disrupted by the absence of key players for various reasons.

Midfielder Richmond Lamptey and left-back John Tedeku are sidelined due to injuries, while winger Isaac Oppong’s availability remains uncertain due to illness.

Goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad, Nurudeen Yussif Mohammed, and Peter Amidu Acquah are undergoing assessments by the medical team after missing training sessions.

Midfielder Michael Kyei Dwamena continues his recovery journey, joining versatile midfielder Sherif Mohammed, who is recuperating from surgery, on the sidelines for this crucial encounter.
