History Makers Again! Real Madrid Break Historic Goalscoring Record in Win Over Real Betis

Published on: 13 March 2017

2017 is already turning into a more-than-decent year for Real Madrid, isn't it?

The club broke Barcelona's 39-game unbeaten streak of matches back in January thanks to their 3-3 draw with Sevilla, and Los Blancos have now gone a step further and broken another record that has stood for half a century.

Yep, that's right. 50. Years. Real's 2-1 victory over Real Betis last Sunday not only sent them back to the summit of La Liga, but it also resulted in them scoring for 48th consecutive game and ensured they surpassed Portuguese outfit Benfica's all-time record of striking in 47 successive matches.

34 Wins
11 Draws
3 Losses

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was Cristiano Ronaldo who bagged the goal that toppled Benfica's long standing record, and meant that Zinedine Zidane's men have scored at least once in every game they've played since a drab 0-0 draw with Manchester City in last April's Champions League semi-final.

Even more impressively, Real have lost just three of those 48 matches too. The mind truly boggles at the way they've gone about their business under Zidane!
