Hull City Joined by Sunderland in Race to Sign Tottenham's Ryan Mason

Sky Sportssources are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason has caught Sunderland's attention, as newly promoted Premier League side Hull City looks to take him off the London side's books.

Sky previously reported that Hull and Spurs had reached an agreement over the player, but it is now believed that Mason is in talks with Sunderland as well.

David Moyes has seen his new Black Cats' side lose both of their opening league fixtures this season, and wants to add a bit more firepower to the side before the window closes.

It doesn't seem like Mason has a future under Mauricio Pochettino, with Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier ahead of him in the pecking order. The club also bought Victor Wanyama this summer, making things even harder.

Hull interim manager Mike Phelan, speaking ahead of Saturday's match against Manchester United, said that the Tigers are intent on bringing in six more players before the window slams shut next week. He did not mention Mason, but revealed that fees had been agreed for certain players.

"We are in talks with two or three new players, we are pursuing those but at the moment nothing has been delivered," he said.

"We've agreed a few fees, but we haven't got into discussions yet as to what else it's going to cost us one top of that.

"Without naming names, we have agreed fees with players, clubs and agents and we just have to see between now and Wednesday whether we can get those done. We need as many as we can get. We talked about six, it may be more, it may be less, we'll have to see."
