New Tottenham Goalkeeper Pau Lopez Eager to Repay Mauricio Pochettino's Trust

Pau Lopez has revealed that the chance to work under Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino once more was a key factor when agreeing to join the north London club on a season-long loan that could become a permanent deal.


Speaking to the club's official website, the Spanish goalkeeper expressed his delight at reuniting with his former Espanyol boss and is determined to win the trust of his manager once more at White Hart Lane.


Lopez who waspart of the club's touring party for the trip to Stoke City,is yet to make his Spurs bow however will challenge Michel Vorm as Hugo Lloris' understudy between the sticks.

Aged 21, the Spaniard joined Espanyol in 2007 and worked under the Spurs chief following his arrival at the helm in2009. The pair spent three years together in Barcelona before Pochettino and his coaching staff departed for Southampton and then onto Tottenham.


The goalkeeper appeared 36 times during the previous La Liga season keeping seven clean sheets in the process, and holds Pochettino in high regard for giving him his chance.


"Mauricio made everything possible, if he wasn't here, I wouldn't have the opportunity to play here.He trusted me when I was a youth player at Espanyol. I'm very grateful to him, now I have to do everything here to earn his trust."

With the likes of Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Harry Kane all trusted heavily under the Spurs boss, Lopez is excited at the opportunity to be a part of what could be a long-term project.


"I hope to learn a lot, improve a lot as a goalkeeper and adapt to life on and off the pitch," he added.
