Premier League Trio Said to Be Chasing Out of Favour Southampton Striker

A trio of Premier League Clubs are reportedly keen on signing Southampton misfit Jay Rodriguez.

According to theMirror, West Bromwich Albion, Hull City and Swansea City are all chasing the striker, with Tigers' boss Mike Phelan said to be the most interested in a January move, as Hull are desperate to turn their fortunes around.

He will face competition from the other mentioned clubs, however, and it will be interesting to see where Rodriguez ends up - if he even leaves at all.

The 27-year-old has seen playing time tough to come by under new boss Claude Puel this season, and has only started in one leaguematch so far this season, a 2-1 loss to Arsenal.

Rodriguez was a very promising forward before damaging his cruciate ligament two years ago. He spent over a year out injured, and has since failed to rediscover his best form.

However, if given a starting role at another club, things could change and aJanuary move would probably suit him quite well.

Speaking toSky Sportslate last month, Phelan identified the Englishman as a target, but also pointed out that there were other options as well.

"We are trying, we're interested in a couple," he said. "People like Jay Rodriguez, who are getting sporadic games at their clubs.

"But there are others. We just have to monitor everybody and hopefully we can get the right ones who fit, who we can possibly bring in."

The Tigers are already in big trouble this season, and it would take quite the push to get them out of the relegation zone. A new striker may just be the answer.
