Ashanti Region-based referee Emmanuel R. Biney has retired from the profession after an illustrious 16-year career.

Biney made the disclosure in a letter to the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) as he described his desire to move on from the profession on personal reasons.

Biney has been refereeing in the top flight since 2006/07 season since joining the profession in 2000.

He later acquired a FIFA badge as one of the few elite referees in the country. His last game in the Premier League was the week 14 clash between Ebusua Dwarfs and Aduana Stars at the Robert Mensah Stadium.
