1995 U-17 World Cup winner Awudu Issaka praises Black Starlets after UEFA U-16 tournament triumph

1995 U-17 FIFA World Cup winner, Awudu Issaka has heaped praise on the Black Starlets following their triumph at the just ended UEFA U-16 Development tournament in Serbia.

The two-time World Cup winner, who has failed to make impact in recent times were crowned champions at youth development tournament after beating Switzerland to record their third consecutive victory.

A brace from Ramsey Asumadu and Bosman Debrah’s strike ensured Ghana secured a 3-2 win over Switzerland.

“I was impressed with the performance of the team. I will commend them for the outstanding performance. Going forward, we have to ensure a proper transition for this team and I believe that will help us to improve in the game as country”

The Black Starlets outstanding performance has rekindled interest in the U-17 team.

The team had a flying start to the tournament after inflicting a 4-0 win over host country, Serbia, where Benjamin Tsivanyo bagged hat-trick.

Karim Zito and his charges made it back-to-back victories after beating Spain in their second game.

Despite being reduced to nine men in the second half, the Black Starlets held on to secure all three points with a 3-2 win.

The West African powerhouse wrapped up with a win over Switzerland.
