Former Black Queens captain Adjoa Bayor has urged the team to start the 2018 Women's Africa Cup of Nations on a blistering note.

Ghana will open this year's competition with Algeria at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday 17 November, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Queens are hoping to win the tournament for the very first time and Bayor who played in so many finals but failed to win believes a good start to the tournament will boost the confidence of the team.

"For the first time we are hosting the tournament in Ghana and our prayer is that our ladies will be able to win it," she told Joy News

"Normally when you go for tournaments it is always important to start on a winning note so my advise to the team is that they start the tournament well by winning and playing well.

"Fortunately for us we are playing here in Ghana so we will have the fans backing us, we can only make them proud by winning our first game.

Ghana is in Group A with Mali, Algeria and Cameroon.
