2019 WAFU Championship: Black Stars B midfielder Shafiu Mumuni hopeful of title defence in Senegal

AshantiGold and Black Stars B captain Shafiu Mumuni is hopeful Ghana will defend their title in the on-going WAFU Championship in Senegal.

Coach Maxwell Konadu's side will lock horns with Gambia on Tuesday in their group opener as they begin their title defence.

According to Mumuni, the players are well motivated to win the championship and they will do everything possible to defend their title.

“We are well and self motivated coming into this WAFU, we make sure to maintain our champions status," he said ahead of the game against Gambia.

“People all around knows about our team, the Senegalese have been saying we will be playing the finals with them because they know what we can do."

He added: “I have hopes in my teammates , I strongly believe we will go far in this tournament, this is a different team all together.

“The mentally in camp is very positive, all we want is the support and prayers of Ghanaians and believe with this we will bring the trophy to Ghana”.
