Editor of the Kotoko Express, Jerome Otchere believes Maxwell Konadu must not be blamed for the poor run of the club.

Asante Kotoko parted ways with the former Black Stars assistant coach on Friday morning.

The Porcupine Warriors have been poor and uninspiring after five games played.

And after losing to Great Olympics on Thursday, the management announced they have parted ways with the 53 year old head trainer who was on a $3000 as monthly salary.

"We can easily point fingers at Maxwell Konadu for the poor run of Asante Kotoko but that is not the reason," he told Accra based Asaase Radio.

"The fundamental problem of the club is how players are recruited and how they are manged when they come in.

"We shouldn't blame Maxwell Konadu at the point and if we don't fix this issue of player recruitment and mnagement, the problem will still be there.

"A new coach will definitely be named soon but if we don't the fundamentals right, the club will still, " he added.

Assistant coach Johnson Smith has been appointed as the interim coach.

Asante Kotoko will play Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu on Sunday before hosting Al Hilal at the Accra Sports Stadium in their Caf Champions League preliminary games.
